Rhythmical Flow.....What is it?

Hi,

Have you ever got into a type of "Zone" when you are carrying out a task? You know what I mean? a kind of place where time stops...nothing matters...only what is going on in your head regarding your task. You're in a kind of "bubble" and things flow effortlessly, like when your studying and answers come with ease, or writing, or planning, or maybe just in conversation...you just know what to say. When this happens, you're in a "rhythmical flow". I'm sure you all know what I mean...you've all been there. What has happened is that everything is rhythmically aligned...your thoughts, your feelings, your mood, your concentration, your focus and your communication channels. All these inner networks and frequencies are synchronised perfectly and work with ease. There is inner organisation and balance.  Somewhere along the way you became "One"... there was nobody, or nothing assisting you...just you alone flowing along in a confident and assertive time zone.

It is my mantra, and I'll say it again and again..."Rhythm is the great Organiser" When we get into a rhythmical drift, whether it is physical, emotional, social or spiritual, we are unstoppable. We are operating at our highest level of awareness and comprehension, and we feel we can move mountains. However, this tends to happen to us when we least expect it...I mean it just happens. We don't feel it coming on and there are no warning signs. Or are there?

The next time you feel yourself in this "zone" I want you to check yourself...stop for a moment and ask yourself "how do I feel right now?" There will only be one answer...you will feel very relaxed, free of stress or worries, and your breathing will be light and easy flowing. This is what Rhythmical flow creates...a feeling of complete relaxation, conviction, certainty and confidence. Some how you have found yourself in this "space" unknowingly. What a pity it doesn't happen more often I hear you say. Well it can, and it can be almost permanent if you work on how to find it, practice it and introduce it to your lifestyle.

The best leaders, sportspeople, artists, corporations and small business's are in this Rhythmical flow...some by accident more than design, but to sustain it and make it a systematic part of your personal life or your professional business, you have to work on firstly understanding the concept, and then introducing a method to make it a part of your lifestyle. Here are a few primary steps you can take to learn how to live a more measured life, and help you enter a "Rhythmical Flow

  • Slow down the pace of your life.
  • Start to introduce some routines in your life.
  • Check your breathing often, and make sure it's smooth and easy.
  • Introduce more synchronised routines with your employees.
  • Plan in a rhythmical way, and don't procrastinate.
  • Exercise to a rhythmical "beat" (listening to music)
  • Learn a musical instrument.
  • Get involved in a sports team
  • Join a yoga or Thi Chi class.
  • Learn to play a hand drum (D'jembe)
  • Learn to dance.
These are just a few ideas to get you going...there are many more and I'm sure you will find your own preferred method.

Rhythmical flow happens everywhere...at home with your family, at work with your co-workers or employees, with your friends and acquaintances in social settings and most of all in your own biological mechanisms. Remember, when you are creating Rhythmical Routines in your life you are creating lifestyle habits... and as the great Aristotle once said "We are what we repeatedly do, Excellence then, it not an act, but a habit".
