Hi all,
A lot of my work is in schools, working with young children. I don't only teach music skills, in fact that is only a small part of what I do...I also facilitate child development...through drumming/rhythm activities and games. There are many benefits to children (and adults) from learning a musical skill, and I believe that drums are the best entry level instruments to achieve this. Children can improve areas of their lives such Listening, Focusing, Respect, Impulse control, Camaraderie, Following instructions, Self-esteem, Inclusion and many more from playing drums with other people in a Drum Circle format. Check out the link below to read about some of the benefits to children from drumming.

Agree! My son plays 4 instruments and he is amazing in math and science. I truly believe the music and reading scores is the best!
This is a great blog Eddie, especially as it gives one single place for lots and lots of really useful links to what is being said about drumming and recreational music-making. Thank you!
